Connect the meter and scale to a scale of OHM, before the test. You can find some to have an OHM meter setpoint. The needles are pulled away from the infinite (which would probably be on the left) and go slightly right and back to infinity. Now, if the connection is reversed (ie red wire on the right side and black on the left sheet), the meter needle should move away from the more infinite to the right, before falling back to where began.
